'Louie Louie' was the song playing on the radio the night John Belushi lost his virginity. It was for that reason that John insisted the song be included on the 'Animal House' soundtrack, performed by John. Other songs vying for the honor included Neil Diamond's 'Cherry, Cherry' (a close and appropriate runner-up) and Don McLean's 'American Pie'. Fortunately, the three and a half minute 'Louie, Louie' won out. Really, what young lad would have lasted through 'American Pie' his first time eating at the 'adult table'?

When the Guinness world record was set for most guitars being played in unison, 'Louie, Louie' was the song they all played. It was the only song that EVERYONE knew!

'Louie, Louie' is the second most recorded song in history. Only 'Yesterday' has been recorded more times. If you play 'Yesterday' backwards it sounds exactly like 'Louie, Louie'. Honest.

The Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame has 'Louie, Louie' listed as one of the 500 most influential songs in rock history. There is no mention of 'Funkytown' on that list. Take that, Lipps, Inc.!

At the sound-check for 'Farm Aid', Bob Dylan and Tom Petty warmed up with 'Louie, Louie'. They were later astounded to find out that they in fact had the same voice!

California Cooler wine coolers used 'Louie, Louie' in all their television advertisements. Years earlier, an actual 'Louie, Louie' brand wine cooler was created only to have the pants sued off of them for copyright infringement.

Comedian Andy Kaufman was reported to have an unusual fascination with 'Louie Louie'. This one amazes even me because I have always had an unusual fascination with both Andy Kaufman and 'Louie Louie'. What are the odds of two comics named Andy to be obsessed with the same song? I'm telling you I'm celestially connected to this stupid song!

Toots and the Maytals, a Jamaican band, singing this song with "Jamaica" in the lyrics, DON'T sing the line featuring the word "Jamaica" in it. One of my favorite Louie oddities!
